TSN is reporting 5 players from Canada’s 2018 WJC team told to surrender to Police

According to a post on TSN.ca 5 players from team Canada’s 2018 World Junior team were given a deadline to surrender to London Police. The Globe and Mail reported this morning, citing two unnamed sources.

They would be facing sexual assault charges. The prospective charges are related to an alleged sexual assault in June 2018 involving players from the 2018 team and a woman identified in court records as E.M.

The Globe reported the players have a set period of time to surrender to police, citing sources. TSN has not been able to corroborate The Globe’s reporting.

Currently there are names being tossed around on twitter, but all of those are speculation at this point and I will not be posting any names until the London Police Service releases the names.

NHL sources told Daily Faceoff that the league’s investigation into the incident, which is ongoing, and any subsequent punishment would not proceed until after the London Police finished their investigation.

Hopefully this situation gets resolved soon and there can be closure for the victim, and appropriate consequences for those involved.
